Looking for something truly different to do on your day off or during your vacation? Book an outing with Princescape, an escaperoom that utilizes virtual reality. Owner Jan Willem Prince brought this unique concept to Schouwen-Duiveland. "I had been toying with the idea for a while, as I'm a big fan of escaperooms and puzzle games. I tried out the concept in Rotterdam and then delved deeper into it." Jan Willem became a partner with the Canadian company that developed the software, and in 2022, he opened it to the public. "Our location originally housed my father's construction company. We've completely transformed that space into a virtual reality escaperoom." According to Jan Willem, the advantage of VR is that you're not limited to a single game. You can choose from six different games (with a new one added every year). "Another benefit is that everything is wireless. With the VR headset on, you can simply walk around and it's lifelike. The gameplay lasts between 35 and 45 minutes, depending on the difficulty level. Up to 5 people can participate in a game at once. You're not actually locked in; the door doesn't lock. VR merely creates the illusion that you're locked in a room and need to escape within a certain time. Even people with disabilities can join us. We've completely adapted the location, including the restroom.
