On the route Toen en nu (Then and now), for example, you encounter many historical places to learn how they are connected to the present. On the Expeditie Delta route, you learn more about the Delta Works and coastal protection. On the Watersnoodroute, which starts in Ouwerkerk, you bike through the area that was flooded in 1953 during the disastrous flood.
Racing and long distance routes
Are you one of those people who don't shy away from a few hills or dunes? Do you still feel fit and healthy after a ninety-kilometer tour? Schouwen-Duiveland has several racing and long-distance biking routes. On the 126-kilometer-long Zeeuwse Wind Wielerroute, you will not only cross Schouwen-Duiveland but also the other islands of Zeeland. Whichever route you choose, you will have to face the toughest opponent you can encounter in Zeeland: the wind.

Bike along a dike!
When you’re discovering Schouwen-Duiveland by bike, you should definitely try a route that leads along the outside of the dikes. On the border between land and water, you experience the real island feeling. No matter if you have a tailwind or headwind, the view is always stunning. You can bike almost the entire south coast of Schouwen-Duiveland along the foot of the dike. On the north side of the island, there is a beautiful buitendijkse bike path between Brouwershaven and Den Osse with views of the Grevelingenmeer and the island Dwars in Den Weg.
Well cared for
The Fietscafés are the go-to (or rather bike-to) spot for anyone traveling by bike. The cafés are marked on the signposts along the route and in the online bike route planner. Here you can repair your bike, get first aid or a map in case you get lost. You can even charge your e-bike at some cafes. As you can see, Schouwen-Duiveland has everything a cyclist's heart desires. And if that's not enough, you can take the ferry to one of the other islands or Brouwersdam.
