On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, we commemorate eighty years since the liberation of Zierikzee. Together, we honor the liberators and the victims of World War II.
Program
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Arrival of 10 English marines from the 47 Royal Marine Commando at the Zuidwellebrug.
Welcome by Mayor Jack van der Hoek, accompanied by the Music Corps Kunst en Eer.
Festive reception on Zuidwellestraat by primary school children.
1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
Commemoration at the Names Monument near Nieuwe Kerk.
Speech by the mayor.
Eight students from the Pieter Zeeman Lyceum honor eight victims and lay flowers for all 218 victims.
Music by Kunst en Eer and Duo Voce.
