Op zee gebleven: vergeten slachtoffers van de Watersnoodramp - Watersnoodmuseum

During the 1953 flood in Zeeland, several ships vanished without a trace on the North Sea, including the Dutch coasters Salland and Westland and the steam trawler Catharina Duyvis. Thirty-one crew members lost their lives, but their names were never listed on the official Red Cross victim records.

The exhibition Lost at Sea: Forgotten Victims of the North Sea Flood at the Watersnoodmuseum in Ouwerkerk brings their stories to life. Through the memories of their families, the lives and fates of these sailors are shared so that their names and stories are never forgotten.
