RS Feva and RS500 World Championships in Bruinisse, Zeeland - Summer 2024

This summer, the Netherlands will host two prestigious World Championships: the RS Feva World Championship and the RS500 World Championship. Bruinisse Marina, located in the beautiful Zeeland, will be the home base for these events.

A Sea of Opportunities in Bruinisse

From the end of July to the beginning of August, Bruinisse transforms into the beating heart of international sailing. The last week of July and the first week of August are entirely dedicated to thrilling races and lively social events. The choice of Bruinisse as the venue is a great compliment to water sports in Zeeland, particularly Schouwen-Duiveland.

Grevelingenmeer: Perfect Location for World Championships

Both championships will take place on the Grevelingenmeer, the largest saltwater lake in Europe. This expansive water body offers everything a world championship needs: ample space and wind for exciting races, but also sheltered areas ensuring that races can proceed even in varying wind conditions.

Excellent Facilities

Bruinisse Marina is ideal for such large-scale events. With multiple restaurants, a water sports shop, a supermarket, a sailing school with boat rental, and a large dinghy area with a nearby beach, all the essentials for a successful event are present. The adjacent holiday park provides ample accommodation for sailors, coaches, parents, and other supporters.

The Classes: RS Feva and RS500

• RS Feva: The largest double-handed youth class worldwide, perfect for sailors aged 8-16. Chosen by the Dutch Watersportverbond, this class is known for its social character and emphasis on teamwork and fun. The RS Feva World Championship will be held from July 26 to August 1, 2024.

• RS500: A class that has grown significantly in recent years, particularly among young adults and students. The RS500 is a sporty and affordable boat that allows for exciting races. The RS500 World Championship will take place from August 5 to 9, 2024.

Organization and Management

The organization of these world championships is in the hands of the international class organizations and Aquavitesse Sailing School. The race management for the RS Feva World Championship is handled by a collaboration between the Kralingse Sailing Club and the Royal Watersport Association Loosdrecht, while the race management for the RS500 World Championship is organized by Watersport Association Wolphaartsdijk.

Participate and Enjoy

Even sailors who do not own an RS Feva or RS500 can participate. RS Sailing offers charter boats, which can be rented for the event or for the entire spring leading up to the World Championships. This provides a unique opportunity to participate and train in advance.
