Straô Noordwelle
Between February and March, the Straô riding tradition takes place in six villages on the island of Schouwen: Burgh-Haamstede, Ellemeet, Scharendijke, Serooskerke, Renesse, and Noordwelle. The highlight of Straô is washing the horses' hooves in the sea, with the riders remaining seated on their horses during the process. On Saturday, February 22, it’s Noordwelle’s turn to host Straô.
Program:
- 10:30 AM: Gathering of horses at the village ring in Noordwelle, judging of decorated horses.
- 11:30 AM: Riders and horses depart for Strandpark de Zeeuwse Kust.
- 12:00 PM: Arrival at Strandpark de Zeeuwse Kust.
- 12:45 PM: Riders and horses arrive at Strandovergang Kijkduin (Rampweg, Renesse).
- 1:00 PM: Arrival at Strandpaviljoen de Haven van Renesse.
- 1:30 PM: Departure from Strandpaviljoen de Haven van Renesse.
- 2:00 PM: Short stop at De Zoom in Renesse.
- 2:45 PM: Riders and horses return to Noordwelle, accompanied by music from Nut en Uitspanning from Zonnemaire.
