Market Plaza

Market Plaza has two locations on Schouwen-Duiveland, one in Burgh-Haamstede and one in Bruinisse. It's a retail concept where Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall are all together under one roof. So, you can find all your daily groceries, liquor, and pharmacy needs here. Owner Roberto van Veldhuizen says, 'My parents initially started with a camping store in Bruinisse. Later on, they began operating various supermarkets, and in 1998, my sister and I took over the business.' In 2010, Roberto continued on his own. 'I decided to introduce a new formula, so we could have our own style that doesn't just follow the franchise formula. We think from the perspective of Market Plaza as a whole.' The distinction lies in the wide range of local products and collaboration with local entrepreneurs. The store also hosts regular fun activities, and you can visit the Foodbooth for tasty snacks and drinks to take away or enjoy immediately. Roberto adds, 'I still derive a lot of energy from this business, especially from making a difference for our guests alongside the team. We aim for happy employees and happy guests—that's the most tangible aspect.
