The route starts at the Museumboerderij Goemanszorg and ends there as well. Dreischor was known for its flax cultivation in the past. Flax is processed into linen after a laborious process. In the Weststraat and Bogerdweg, you can still find many black sheds where the flax was stored and processed. The Dijkwater was a sea arm of the former island of Dreischor. The water was formed during the Saint Lucia flood in 1287 and was an important shipping route to Zierikzee for centuries. You walk along the former shipping channel and arrive at the agricultural port 'de staart,' one of the four agricultural ports that Schouwen-Duiveland has known. When Schouwen-Duiveland was still an island, this was the only way to get goods onto the island. Walk over the Noorddijk, this dike protected the former island of Duiveland from the sea. During the Watersnoodramp of 1953, the dike broke at several places. Caissons are located underground at this location, which were used to close the dike breach, not visible but certainly present. The route ends at the windmill 'Aeolus' from 1739, which was one of the grain mills of Dreischor. The name refers to Greek-Roman mythology. Aeolis was the keeper of the winds.
